transport available at $30 return per person The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is a 7-8 hour hike traversing two active volcanoes within the Tongariro National Park and is often considered to be the best one day hike in New Zealand and in the top 10 one day hikes in the world. Packed into the 19.4km hike is an array of diverse landscapes and vegetations. From tussock like alpine meadows, to rugged lava flows you will pass desert like craters, emerald lakes and waterfalls. With views to die for from start to finish, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing will truly be one of your most spectacular travel experiences. A must do when visiting the Tongariro National Park. As the Tongariro Alpine Crossing is a one way track, transport is required to the starting and finishing points. We run daily shuttles (weather permitting) to the start of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing track and pick you up from the end returning you to National Park Village.
